How to Become
- Complete a Certificate III in Joinery (CPC31920) or Certificate III in Carpentry (CPC30220) as part of an apprenticeship. This usually takes between three and four years to complete.
- A White Card is required to work on construction sites in Australia. This can be obtained by completing construction induction training through a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). You will need to provide the trainer with 100 points of ID and pay the fee (set independently by each RTO).
- Apply for a Certificate of Completion. This nationally recognised accreditation shows that you have completed your training and are ready to start working in the carpentry industry.
Overview
Carpenters and Joiners construct, erect, install, renovate and repair structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, wallboard and other materials, and cut, shape and fit timber parts to form structures and fittings.
